104 Books in 2005
I absolutely adore this book. I've got to just over halfway through from the first four chapters in two days. It's so compelling. I feel like I have to read it. It's just there...watching me...which is creepy liek whoa in context. Anyway. It's really quite terrifying isn't it? It makes me shiver. Now that's good writing. I've been urged to read faster by my classmates who've read it. Then we can have in-depth spoilerific discussions. Oh the glee.
Anyway. I just cringed at that guy Smye. When he was talking about the destruction of words? Ugh, it was horrific. And Julia. I like her, I do. But for some reason there's a little niggle in the back of my mind telling me not to trust her 100% yet. DON'T say anything to confirm or dismiss that in comments please! I'd rather just find out so i can go "I KNEW IT!" or "I'm sorry, Julia!" But I do like her. I like that she swears and gets coffee, and sugar and all other forbidden things. I like that she likes to have sex and wear make-up and dresses. I like that she's so efficient and precise. But maybe it's that that makes me not trust her. She's almost too efficient.
But either way, I'm absolutely loving it and should have it finished by sometime next week. I have a very busy weekend unfortunately. I've been told to read Animal Farm and The Handmaid's Tale next. I've already read Brave New World. After this one and those two, will I have read all of those notorious terrifying outcomes for humanity type books? I really like psychological and philosophical aspects to my books. And of course pure fantasy. I'm a diverse little book
rabbit mouse, hee.
